I'm not sure if it helps or hurts the White House to weigh in on this, so I'll do it for them. All news stations editorialize, which is a good thing. But, those opinions must be clearly separate from the news broadcast. It's also true that many news stations have a left leaning stance to them. (As do many university professors. So, smart folks lean left. Okay, got it.) However, Fox 'News' repeatedly crosses the line, and reports outright lies and distortions they know not to be true to push their agenda. So, now Fox is upset that this administration is giving them the bum's rush. Well, Fox burned through its credibility cheerleading for the last administration. Example- the 'War on Terror' is a term created by the Bush White House. Now, it could be argued that invading Iraq is no more effective at fighting terror than invading, say, Canada. Both have Muslims, and both played an equal role in 9-11, meaning nothing. So, the term 'War on Terror' is open to debate, at best. But whenever reporting on the wars of the past 8 years, Fox (and to a lesser extent the other major networks) used the term, basically giving it a stamp of authenticity.
Fox's political agenda is clear, as is its lack of objectivity. Unfortunately, it's not just the right wing nutjobs watching, as Fox's consistent high ratings show. So the White House risks alienating a large swath of middle America; a group they hold by a most tenuous thread already.
